not selling

I receive a steady stream of emails via this website that all assume I am trying to make money. They figure I’m a business, with the need for marketing my products and an incentive to pull traffic, get clicks, and attract eyeballs.

I don’t advertise. Nowhere here do you get a pop-up begging you to like, subscribe, buy, or refer. If I provide a hot link, and you follow it, I receive no kickback.

I’m a free thinker and do not use artificial intelligence for writing. I don’t care if the writing could be improved by accessing a large language model. I find it good enough, and maybe it will improve over time as I keep at it. Similarly to guitar playing, or many other things, you get better by doing it (yourself!).

My retirement income is enough that I need no side jobs. I’m not a politician, angling for your vote. Maybe I’m more like a blooming flower that happens to attract bees. The bees spread my pollen and help my DNA persist.

Yet, the beautiful flower passively trusts that the Creator made it to bloom, even if no one sees it (except the Creator himself). And it doesn’t really care about spreading its pollen. That was the Creator’s idea.

Mind in Heart could be like a dandelion. Maybe the bright yellow bloom attracts attention, but then the white-gray sphere of seeds can be blown away on a breeze. Seeds of ideas that may or may not take root. Who knows how far they will go or where they might grow and become another weed?

The original dandelion, having lost all its seeds, stands there pathetically. A little bare knob that did its job and now has nothing left to do but whither and fall over.

But the ideas here are shared by many. We are a thinking community. None of us thinks up things no one has ever thought before. Yet, we encourage each other. Thinking is good! Figuring out how to be is good! Taking our reasoning on a little detour through our hearts is a life-affirming practice. This is exactly what we were created for. As we express unique points of view, from the insignificant spots where we are planted, the Creator is literally glorified. This is one way his creativity continues.

We mull over our situation. Plenty we don’t know, don’t understand. We have a few goals, some vague. We just want to live. Getting and giving hugs is nice—a way we express our value for others and receive affirmation. This intrinsic spiritual nourishment seems to come from the love and compassion we embody.

We decide on these actions because our ideas have been nurtured by having passed through our hearts before being shared.

I invite you (yes, you who read these words now) to express your thoughts here. Be a guest blogger on Mind in Heart. Anything you want to say: short essay, poem, a mere paragraph. You could express a dialogue, Socratic or from a real conversation. You could share a travelogue with photos. I’ll be your editor, just to ensure it aligns with Mind in Heart. Use the contact form to let me know your interest. But do remember, we are not selling. You speak your mind here as another free thinker!
